Revealed that some gas stations said to be mixing methanol to their fuel.
Methanol, also known as "wood alcohol" is not allowed by the existing rules or standards.
According to the Department of Energy, or DOE, that they have already monitored some gas stations having only one branch contains methanol fuel on their products.
Based on biofuels law, only ethanol can be mix with fuel products and should be only 10 percent.
Consequently, Fernando Martinez, President of the Independent Philippine Petroleum Companies or IPPCA calls on DOE to do not stop monitoring the gas stations that uses methanol.
Martinez pointed out that the illegal practice of these gas stations greatly affects the performance of the vehicles.
