NBI ORDERED TO FILE A CASE AGAINST THE 24 POLICEMEN PARTICIPATED IN KILLING OF MAYOR ESPINOSA



The National Bureau of Investigation ordered to file a case against the twenty-four police officers involved in the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr.

Among the 24 policemen is the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 8 head, Supt. Marvin Marcos who was relieved from office because of alleged involvement in illegal drugs but reinstated by President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin, Chief Insp. Leo Laraga, PO3 Norman  Abellanosa and Paul Olendan are included in the list due of questionable presence of the search warrant.

Meanwhile, NBI Director-8 Jerry Abierra stated that Espinosa was killed in "rubout" and not "shootout" in Leyte sub-provincial jail in Baybay City, November 5. Based on the results of their parallel investigation into the murder of the mayor and fellow prisoners Raul Yap.

According to NBI, someone may had place a gun in the hand of Espinosa and later fired. They concluded the possibility for they had a material witness who had entered the cell to be in gloves and carrying gun but the weapon was not seen upon exiting.
