President Rodrigo Duterte really hates being an ‘epal’ politician that’s why he decided to skip the ceremonial distribution of relief goods in Camarines Sur in his visit yesterday[Tuesday].
Duterte visited Camarines Sur together with his cabinet secretaries to check the effects and the victims of the Typhoon Nina which struck the country on Christmas Day.
Duterte assured that the victims would receive all the things that they needed, but he does not want to led the ceremonial gift-giving because exposing himself in the media while giving donations to the people is not his style.
“Style bulok yan, ayaw na ayaw ko yan![it's a dull style, i really hate it!]” Duterte said.
Photo-oppoturnity during gift giving ceremony was common to politicians because they believe that it would boost their popularity, but its clearly the opposite to the new President of the country.
“I am not really up to it. Ayoko iyung may mga telebisyon madrama ako na magbigay-bigay. Tumatayo yung balahibo ko naco-cornihan ako,[I don't want the media to broadcast me in televisions showing me giving gifts/donations. It gives me goosebumps, for me its corny..]” he said.
The Duterte administration is ready to give P50-100 million in calamity funds to the areas affected by Nina and assured that the money cannot be stole by any public officials.
“You have P50 million, I may [add] another P50 million or P100 million. No corruption involved and it’s all yours,” he said.
He also hope that the victims would recover quickly and encourage them to not despair.
