U.N. SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR IN VISITING PH, LESS LIKELY TO HAPPEN

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) clarified that the visit of U.N. Special Rapporteur in Philippines to investigate the alleged extra judicial killings of Duterte administration's drug war is cancelled.

Foreign Affairs Sec. Perfecto Yasay said that the U.N. cannot proceed on their intended investigation after Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard refused to accept the conditions given by President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Yasay, until now there is no indications that Callamard will comply with the investigation.

Earlier, based on the statement of President Duterte, he will agree to the investigation of the U.N. special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings if she will accept the conditions of a public debate and to interrogate Callamard.
